Sears 8 Track AM/FM Stereo System 700.91320300 Vintage Left Channel Out Faulty.
This player functions but the left channel output does not seem to work all that well. Most of the time the music is quiet and muffled. Moving the volume lever seems to have something to do with it. Moving the lever causes loud static noise and sometimes the left channel starts working.
Moving the balance and tone levers also produce some static but much less than the volume.
Maybe opening it up and a thorough cleaning will get it to work. I did use compressed air to try and clean the levers and outputs.
The 120V outlet and audio inputs on the back have not been tested.
The 8 track seemed to work okay but when the tape first starts up the audio speed is off. If I remember correctly I think this is normal for 8 tracks.
The outside of this unit is in excellent condition. One speaker has a bit of damage on one corner. Another corner has something white on it. I think it is paint and may clean off.
Hooking this up and flipping on the power switch made me smile. Seeing it light up and classic rock comes blaring out. Just something about using a vintage stereo system gets the blood flowing. An awesome addition to any audiophiles collection.
