Rip VanWinkle's Power Amp?
I picked this CARVER PREMIERE AV-705x up more than 20 years ago!
I took it to the LISTEN UP Service Department, here in Denver for a complete tune up.
After the Servicing,
I hooked it up and was amazed by its Startling Resolution, and Impact!
I then bought a KRELL 300i Integrated Amplifier to power my pair of Martin Logan CLS speakers and fell back in love with Stereo!
So, I put this CARVER PREMIERE AV-705x into my Audio Vault; intending to add it to my A/V system at some point.
As an Audiophile, working in the A/V industry, I collect and install many fantastic
Audio Components over the years.
For some reason, I just never got around to installing this CARVER PREMIERE AV-705x into my system.
I am now in the proccess of clearing out my Audio Vault.
When I pulled this amp out of it's nesting place, I noticed that 3 of the RCA input ground sleeves were gone.
I connected the 2 remaining channels through my
THULE SPACE 250
Pre-amp
(also listed on eBay!) ,
and they played PERFECTLY!
Same huge, tight sound;
same IMPACT!
You can see in the Photo the Three spaces (channels 2, 4, and 5) where the sleeves are missing! You may have to replace the whole RCA input receptacle on one channel, or just the ground sleeves on all ofcthem,
but that should be relatively simple and inexpensive.
As I said, I TESTED the 2 remaining channels, and they work Perfectly!
The insides are very clean!
Now,
I do not want to replace the missing input ground sleeves.
I am simply trying empty out my cherished Audiophile stash before I get in trouble with my "Indispensable Other"!
I estimate this amplifier has fewer that 100 hours of use, total, really just broken in.
So, I leave it to

With a little work,
you will end up with a practically perfect,
very low usage
CARVER PREMIERE AV 705x amplifier.
I can not test this CARVER PREMIERE AV-705x on all 5 channels.
You that will have to do the work,
or hire a technician to make these small fixes.
All 5 channels were working Perfectly when I put this amp in storage;
and the2 channels with the input ground sleeves ARE working perfectly!
It is up to you!
